I am missing the arm that goes from the choke down to open and close choke. I tried to build one but didn't work.


its a carb by Carter for Motor craft on my 1985 jeep 4 cyl. 2.5lt.


anyone have this arm or know where to buy Carter carb parts?

 

Not sure which #'s to go off of on carb? it has 2 different #'s


on the front of bowl it has #2358


on the body of carb it has #2587

 

If I were to try to fabricate one, I'd find one longer, like 4'', that has the top "L" and the groove for the clip. That could be cut/bent with the "Z" to fit into the bottom, given the 7/8" bend over to where the L comes through for the clip.

Making it with coat hanger, the bottom "Z" and the rest should be pretty easy. How to hold the top 90* L in there, could be a problem. Larger throttle linkage has a nifty clip that holds it in and clips on the shaft. I've done it with fine wire, but it was not a permanent fix.

 

Probably scrapyard only at this point. Carter has been out of business since the mid 1980's and this isn't a part that was typically stocked separately.
