Mini Cat Help
Hey hows it going, my 01 XJ has been giving me a P0432 code often assocciated with the mini cats that are located right off the exhaust manifold. I had a mechanic check it out and he said my cat is definitely bad.The car has 110000 miles on it, is completely stock and is getting around 9mpg, which is absolutely terrible, I need to get this fixed fast so I decided to see what the dealership would charge for the part. What a mistake that was. They were asking 1100 just for the part. I'm finding them on the interwebz for around 350. There's just too many brands though, what would be your suggestion?
Thanks in advance

You may have bad cats but remember the 02 sensors are what gives that code.
I had the same issue and replaced the two rear sensors and have not had the P0431/432 codes inn the last 5K.
Good luck

Not saying every mechanic/shop knows what they are talking about, but at least they've seen the truck first hand.
Yeah, the guy i brought it to had been working on jeeps his entire life. I trust his opinion. He'll be doing the install, I just need the part. I would like to go aftermarket, since I can't justify spending 1100 dollars on it. Is there some well trusted brand you guys often use here on the forums when it comes to cats?

Unless you are going for all out performance, I'd just get whatever generic replacement your local Napa has on hand.

whats "resonably priced?"
If they beat Napa that'd be better I'm sure.
I'm not exactly sure why the dealership charges $1100, but it can't be too much different from any others.
I'm guessing flow rate is the main difference.

Thanks for your help guys, I actually found the whole assembly at a autoparts store for a cool 250 bucks. I'm going with that and have the operation done saturday. I'll let you know how it goes.
