Note from DJ regarding E brake switch
I believe your problem was possibly caused by some work on your Jeep you may have just completed prior to start up attempt.

If you were doing anything to your Jeep prior to starting attempt we need to know what that work was.

It appears that your melted wire and emergency brake switch were designed to be a ground for an emergency brake waring bulb located in the instrument cluster as there is only one wire gonging to the switch.

If my suspense is correct something charged the melted wire with battery voltage when the brake was set.

I’m including a diagram I attained from cruiser54 website in tiled 90 Jeep Field Service Manual.

i do have a push button momentary switch to start it up but everything was ran stock thru the ignition switch. Just got done putting a cylinder in the steering column so I could get power back to tthe acc's and that's when the dookie hit the fan. I apologize for not having a thorough description of my situation

So as far as fixing the problem, after replacing melted ignition and e brake switches can I find a good ground to replace melted wire or do I need to rerouted as it was? A buddy suggested to get rid of the ignition switch all together sense I don't need a key to start it anyway but I'm reserving that as plan b (seems like lots a work)

think I got it thanks for the help...my buddy ended up giving me a couple switches so I went ahead and deleted the ignition switch. Everything seems back to normalwith the exception of my temp gauge reading way too high maybe I messed up the cts or something or maybe I got too much voltage going thru it but I have progress..dome fuse keeps popping though..
