massive oil leak help...
So I just replaced my rear main seal and new oil pan gasket and now there's a pretty bad leak coming from between the flex plate and transmission. Its not a drip but a light stream. I read on a lot of sites that the seal takes a few days to seal properly. Is this what's going on or did I screw up putting in the rear main seal? I followed all the directions everywhere I read how to do it.
Any help would be great.

The RMS or pan gasket didn't get seated correctly. You get to do it all again, Sorry. Very common for the pan gasket to slip out of place when installing.

I'm positive that I installed the upper half the right way. When I put the upper half in, it took some force around the half way point and noticed some tiny pieces had shaved off from it. I talked to a Guy at Napa and he said even if the tiniest piece comes off, it'll cause it to leak.
I followed the write up on the go-jeep website and the guy said to put soap on the upper half of the seal so that's what I did. The guy at Napa said to soak it in either trans fluid or motor oil.

Well It seems you got your answer. Sucky part is there is only one way to be sure and to fix. Good thing is seals are cheap.
I've been in your shoes before. Had to do a T-Bird 3 times once before. Was so pissed by the 3rd one I called the wrecker, had them tow it away to the JY.

Well I apparently figured out what I did wrong. I left the old part of the multi piece gasket on the rear main bearing cap. So what happened is the new one piece rubber gasket that was was sandwiched between the old gasket and the oil pan and it blew out.
So I put a new main seal in just o be safe and had to get a new oil pan gasket. While I was at it, I replaced the o-rings in the oil filter adapter. No more leaks as of now. Woohoo
