Massive fuel leak at fuel rail ?
1995, XJ I6
I discovered a massive fuel leak at the front of the fuel rail from a strange looking connection, Looks like it could be the main fuel supply. Is this a difficult repair and does anyone know what this fitting is called?
Is this the fuel pressure reguator ?
Thanks.

if it's the quick connect fitting, there should be a couple rubber o-rings in there, maybe they're dried out and/or disintegrated. replace those and you should be fine.

It looks to be coming from a large mass of some kind of strange looking connector. I have found a pic/site that looks just like it and it says its the fuel pressure regulator, Like this:
https://www.google.com/search?q=1995...IegXTRdrVNM%3A
Is It just a matter of relieving pressure, unbolting the old one and slapping the new one on?
Thanks.

Would that be on the regulator, on the right side? online I can see the regulator should have 2 orings on the right side.

honestly, i don't think i've ever seen one of those adjustable fuel regulators on a jeep before.
my jeeps as far as i can remember just has a quick snap connector, kind of like what is on the radiator for trans cooler, so i dunno...

Im not going to install an adjustable one, just a stock one. I was using the
link as reference to a pic of the stock one.
I have one setup for tomorrow.
Not sure if its just an oring or the regulator I figure I might as well replace
the regulator because it looks like the original one.

Your link didn't help me, too many pics. In any case, those take two O rings and a spacer in between you can't get, so don't loose any spacers. (might be a flat sided, white, doughnut looking deal)
I found this info in my signature, might help>>
Some #'s for fuel line--and FPR? rings and stuff:
Quick disconnect part numbers
So far the Napa part numbers for just orings is:
Napa 730-5018 3/8 Viton individual orings $1.56 each
Napa 730-5017 5/16 Viton individual orings $1.35 each
Napa CRB 212305 fuel line repair kit 5/16? $15.93 each
Mopar repair kits:
83502745 fuel line repair kit 5/16 $6.99 Morris
83504447 fuel line/Trans line repair kit 3/8 $8.99 Morris
Don't hear of regulators failing often. The original may well be better made than a new one. If the diaphragm fails there will be fuel in the vacuum line.

Yeah, I wouldn't replace the regulator. There's no reason to. The plastic connectors become brittle with time and exposure to heat/fuel and the Viton o-rings don't last forever, either. Replace those bits and you should be just fine. Make sure you use the synthetic viton o-rings, rubber o-rings will disintegrate in the presence of gasoline.

That said, I've never seen one like that either.

I removed the regulator and the orings are flattened, probably the shape they had to conform to.
All the kits I find only have 2 orings, small and large, also the vacuum end
of the regulator looks clogged Or could that be some kind of filter material?
I would think if there were some kind of filter it would eventually degrade
and clog the vacumm line. Dont know just guessing.
EDIT: I took a small piece of plastic and pushed it into the vacumm end and discovered a hard sludge almost completely blocking the vacumm line, ended up pushing it into the regulator. Odd thing is that the car ran fine, LOL. Other then having to crank it a couple times for it to start.
Thanks for any replies.

Done!
I installed a new regulator, $65 and under 2 minutes to install it.
I guess this is why I had to crank it 2 times for it to start. Now It starts the first time.
Thanks for the help.

Thanks.
I was in a panic because the day before, I had taken out the radiator and all the coolant hoses on my van to replace everything then I discover this on the jeep, LOL.
Fortunately working on the jeep is like a toy compared to my van.
