MAP Sensor Confusion - Why do I have a GM part in my XJ?
I've had a couple of problems with my newly acquired XJ which required the replacement of the TPS, IAC, CPS and MAP sensors. I went MoPar with all the replacements (can't go wrong right? WRONG!!)
I got all my sensors replaced and cleaned the throttle body without issue. I saved the MAP for last because it was the easiest to replace. I pulled the old sensor and compared it with the new. Everything seemed fine, they looked almost 100% identical. When I went to plug the new MAP in to the connector it didn't fit, so I compared them again.
It wasn't until I compared the two in better light that I noticed the difference...
The one I pulled was a GM part and the plastic notches in the sensor don't match the connector. Confused as H E double hockey sticks I double checked the part number I ordered from MoPar (discontinued item BTW) and sure enough I ordered and was sent the correct part. Not sure why it doesn't fit.
For giggles, I went to Advance Auto and bought a BWD MAP after I verified the notches in the sensor match the connector and sure enough they do.
What gives?

As a joke, AMC (The company that designed our XJ's) is called "All Makes Combined". The latch and light in your glove box is from Ford, your Transmission can also be found on Toyota's. Essentially a lot of companies had their hands on the XJ's design, so don't worry about it lol.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I didn't know about the XJ being made from miscellaneous parts bins lol.
Guess I need to take up the incorrect part I was sent from MoPar with them now
