How do you replace a manual / crank type window regulator in a 1991 Jeep Cherokee? Thanks as I look to be a pain.

not that bad drill out some rivets undo the nut that holds the window to the regulator remove old through hole in door put new regulator in pop rivet it in place atach nut that holds window to regulator about a hour take down. well for me but i took my doors off and set them on saw horses

 

I bought the parts from the Jeep dealer and had them put them in.

I eventually had to do both fronts.

If they broke a window, they would have replaced it. I also have fairly large hands and arms and didn't feel like getting them cut up on the sharp metal edges.

 

Pretty simple just don't drop window.

 

Accidents happen.

 

Fairly easy job, remove door trim panel, remove interior glass belt moulding, unbolt glass from regulator. take a small center punch and knock out the center of the rivets holding the regulator to the door, take a 1/4" drill bit and then drill out the rivets. You should now be able to remove regulator from the door. installation is in reverse order, if you don't have a large rivet gun, reinstall using 1/4" bolts.

Gonna revive thsi I had rolled my 2nd seat door window down abit too far and it got stuck so had to pull panel off and jiggy the window as I cranked slowly seemed to get it back on 'track' .

BUT what the heck is that hose attached to the regulator for ??
The other end was just laying in the bottom of the door.

 

That is where the "cable" goes when rolling the window down...

 

hey guys I had a question about a manual window regulator on my 96 XJ sport. So the teeth went bad and now the replacement is no longer being made could anyone give me the years compatible with my 1996 jeep Cherokee sport 4.0 L6, thanks guys iv looked everywhere hope this is the right place to ask.
