Default manual v.s. automatic tansmission

Hey guys...

This is my first thread so I apolgize if this isn't the right category this question belongs in...

I am fixated on a manual transmission for my first jeep, but I have friends that either own comanches, wranglers, and 2 with xjs also... they all tell me to go with an automatic transmission.

Can I get some input on this topic? The benefits of one to another... it will probably only be used for trails even though taking it to work so I can show it to my friends might happen so a D/D but minor...

Thanks

Depends on your preference. A lot if people prefer an auto for rock crawling. If I DD'd an auto though I'd be bored to death, and buyingmore gas. The AX-15 and AW-4 are both very stout transmissions so there's really no winner on technical merit.

(All Jeeps should be sticks IMHO lol)

Manual all the way. The AX15 is tough as nails as well as the np231 t case. Get yourself a 4.0 I6 and you'll be set

Auto is better offroad, think about a 60° slope fighting to not red line or kill it when I can just double foot the auto if I need
