IMHO OEM is always best when its something important like a tranny, a little more expensive but you have piece of mind knowing it will last...Tj

Ive been putting off rebuilding my ax15 because of money.

I've learned if the trans is old and really worn, the synco collars can become worn out too. When you put new syncos in, the trans will shift great for a while but then return to being crappy too soon. So i would inspect the synco collars, like compare 1-2 to the 5th one, and if they are worn looking then you should switch it so the trans stays nice longer. But synco collars are like $180 a piece and i need 1-2 and 3-4, i'm pretty sure

I'd try to rustle up a used unit, crack it open, and if its in good shape, swap it in. If not...rebuild that one, then swap.

That way, if you trash it through some bold Homer move, you can still drive and still have the original. The worst that can happen is that you have an extra trans to sell to get your money back.
