Default Manual to power windows?

Can anyone tell me how easy/hard it is to switch to power windows and such? And/or where I can find kits at decent prices? Thanks!(:

Years ago they made kits that had a motor and switch in one housing that mounted to the surface of the door panel. The motor simply turned the manual same shaft that the manual crank turned. Personally I never thought they looked to good because of the extra bulk on your panel but it did do the job. Haven't seen those in years so even if your interested they may no longer be available.
As far as changing over everything inside the door I wouldn't think it would be that physically difficult. Just have to change out the regulators, add switches and run wires. I believe the channels on the glass is different also. To me running wires would be the hardest part. If your model was available with power windows I would think the mounting holes would already be in the door for ya. Have no idea where to tell you to look.

I have a 93 Cherokee Sport. I haven't even really looked into anything yet only because I haven't fully decided haha. I have 3 kids and power windows means lots of playing! But power locks would be awesome.. So I may end up just doing that. Thank you!

PL's are nice when you have company with you. All mine work EXCEPT the right rear. Would rather have that one than any other. On top of that the actuator is built into the latch so it more than $100 for the part.

i prefer manual over power windows hands down, once the oem window motors go out its a crap shoot of cheap replacements that might last a month or a year, then your right back in there finagling another one. what about a junk yard? grab the whole door and swap out what you need?

True. I didn't even think of that.. Which is odd considering I go to junk yards for the hell of it. (not your average girl if ya didn't notice haha)

Interested in this myself for power locks. Would it be possible to just swap the doors completely out? Is the wiring harness still the same to wire everything?

Another thing, what about swapping to a '97+ style door. Would that be possible since the door bolts straight up, how hard would it be to get the locks working.

when you go to the junk yard to get the parts you need a Phillips screwdriver drill with a 5/16 drill bit and some wire cutters and a smaller crescent wrench.
find your doner xj of the same year as yours or 91-95 i think.
remove door panels.
start drilling all the rivets out in each door.. prob 40 total.
undo large nut holding window to regulator.
pull out all power accys.
now the fun part.
the wire harness for power options is a 2nd harness for the doors.
take your time.
pull harness and disconnect from fuse block.
take motors with regulators, power door lock actuators, door panels, inner door handles with switches, wire harness.
ho to a hardware sore for new rivets and install.
took me about 2 hours from start to finish.
and yes ive done this to my heep. lol

why is it that the right rear windows go out so much on the xj? u dont have to answer just gibbering, unless theres a good reason they seem to go out more.

I too have been looking at doing this (manual regulator went out and cheapest found so far is 200! yikes!). Anyway ill go manual junkyard fix for the windows, but you can get on ebay and get universal power door lock kits for like 30 bucks!. They come with four solenoids and the remotes and everything. All brand new parts. Thats the route im going for the door locks, just an FYI.
