Making a 2wd into a 4wd
Ok, so in a lucky score I just picked up a 95 XJ in NY that has NO RUST which is almost unheard of in NY. XJ is from GA and hasn't been around here long. It has motor issues (250xxx so it had it's life) and tranny issues (supposedly just lines) and is 2wd. I have a 96 with 4wd and a lift, besides needing to swap the drive train from front to back (axles, motor, tranny and t case) most likely the cross member, are there any mods I will have to do, or anything I'm overlooking. I have also heard that the 2wd cross member is equal to a 1 inch t case drop, anybody know if this is true?

yeah i been thinking of doing the same with my 95, and oh yeah your cherokee from georgia wont have any rust at all on it because it doesnt snow here and there is no sand or water. but yeah i love my jeep and have put alot of sweat and blood into it, so it has some sentimental value. And thats why i want to convert mine instead of buying another

Yeah it's not the snow or water that makes them rust in NY, it's the freakin salt they use on the roads. I'll tell you I haven't seen the factory undercoating on a car in so long, I forgot what it looked like until today. When all is said and done, let's hpe the salt gives me a few good years out of it.

See in NY that just gives the salt something to stick to real well, up here we use fluidfilm or POR15 to deter the rust.

Here they rust after a few years regardless of what you put on them. Only way to stop it is to not drive it from November to May and park it inside. You guys don't even know how good you have it. I can find a million motors here (heard that's an issue there), but can't find a body worth crap unless it's from out of state.
