This makes no sense (why no locker?)

I own a mustang and the damn thing doesn't have a trac lock either... So I assume this is the same thing that the jeep has no trac-lok/lsd/posi-trac either?

So anyways to the point... Why would a vehical designed for off roading have no locker? I mean if I would of had a locker I could have crawled back down since the other wheels had full traction, instead thankfully another guy came by and pulled me off with a chain.
The cherokee was not designed specifically for off road only. It was designed as a commuter, with off road capabilities to take you where you want to go, such as camping, backroads, etc. Us hard core users push them to the extreme, which they are still capable of doing with some minor upgrades. They keep the axles "open" (lockerless) so it has good on road manners. Try driving a rig with two lockers and then drive one with no lockers. Big difference. They also opted for open diffs due to it having less strain on the drivetrain. If the cherokee was still being produced, I'm sure Jeep would make a Rubicon version, like the Wrangler, that includes front and rear selectable lockers.
