Default Lug nut from hell!

ATTENTION! I own a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0. I have to replace my wheel cylinder on the driver side rear. I already have the part I need but for a week straight I have been trying to get off one stuck lug nut (LUG NUT FROM HELL) this thing is STUCK! I have had myself and four other men try to get this off. I have taken it to a tire shop to get it off and they could not even make it move. I tried the drill out method for 2.5 hours tonight and it still isn't going anywhere I can't torch it off do to the fact that I have aluminum wheels and I am all out of options I would cut it off but I don't have access to the tool I need. Can someone please help me because everyone along with myself is all out of options on what to do. THANKS

It sounds like it might be crossthreaded, have you tried using a floor jack handle as an extension for more leverage?

it does sound cross threaded. What about using an angle grinder rather than a torch? Grind down the lug nut until you can chisel it off...also, did you soak it overnight with PB blaster? I use a product called "aerokroil", rather than PB blaster. I think it works better. I don't know of any retail locations to purchase it. I order it online direct from them. Just a thought, although it does sound like it is crossed.

Breaker bar with a 6 foot pipe. Snap it off and press a new stud in. Sounds worse that it really is.

Find a 1/2 drive socket that you can pound on there if the nut is "rounded". Use a looong pipe on a breaker bar. Another option is locate a local big truck repair center. Then can zip that off for ya for 10 bux cash.

Lug nut from hell!-forumrunner_20170129_215323.png

Sawzall... 2 hours.

Afterwards... I saw a cool video where a guy took a larger nut and welded it to the outside of the lug. He welded the inside of the nut to do it... he then drilled out the middle again, to make sure he didn't weld to the stud... he then put a long pipe on the breaker to twist off the lug. You can weld with one weld stick and a pair of car batteries... on the cheap. Be careful no doubt. Change the stud after. Desperate times, desperate measures. ..

1/2 acetone and 1/2 ATF works as well as any penetrating oil out there. Drive a 6 point socket on the nut and a big breaker bar. That worked on a buddy's vehicle. If it's beyond repair, drill out the center of the bolt until it's gone or you can twist it off.

One more vote for twist it off. 6' of steel pipe on a breaker bar handle WILL shear that stud. One more time location in your name block would help. If you are in the Virginia Beach area, bring it by the house and we'll have it done in 10 minutes.

I had the same problem, compounded by the fact that the stupid sleeve on the stupid two-piece OEM lug nut peeled off. I had a tire shop remove it. If your tire shop couldn't get it off, take it to a different shop. Mine was stuck because it had been overtorqued by a prior tire shop.

I replaced all my original lugs with spline drive lug nuts. No more rounded off nuts. I haven't had any issues getting them off since then.

so...instead of breaking the stud you choose to sawzall the inside of the wheel out? am i seeing this correctly?

edit: the op did not do this. or maybe they did. we don't know as there is no closure.

Have you tried heat?? Even a small propane torch will get it hot enough, sometimes works wonders on stuck bolts, fasteners, etc.

If not.....

My vote goes for breaker bar, that wheel stud will shear off eventually. Pound it out, press a new one in.
