Default LSD oil/additive

Hello,
I'm thinking it's time to do change the oil in the diffs again. If I buy THIS OIL for the rear diff will I need to get additive as well?
The XJ is a 96 with the tow pack.
Thanks!

Great, that makes things easier since LSD additive doesn't seem to be a common item this side of the pond.
Thanks

that looks to be straight 90 weight gear oil, which is not what you want.

For a cherokee with the tow package and LSD, you need to use 75W-140 (GL-5) synthetic gear lube [or 80W-140 if it's easier to find] with 2oz. of friction modifier (or one with the modifier already in it).

You will need 1.6L of gear lube if you have the Dana35 rear, and 2.08L of gear lube if you have the Chrysler 8.25" rear.

Something important to note: with the LSD do NOT flush/clean the gear assembly with any sort of cleaner or brake cleaner. Just drain and refill. Spraying the assembly down will remove the modifiers from the gears and you will have to take the entire thing apart and soak in for 20 minutes.

That Gulf Racing oil is looking like a good bet. Can I use the same front and back? I'm a bit wary because that site already recommended the wrong grade for the rear...

Sorry to jack the thread, but there is significance to my question: how do we tell if we have the towing package?

In the UK it was an LSD at the back, factory tow hitch, and a transmission cooler. I would guess it's the same in the USA but assumption is the mother of all fu....

basically if you have a class III hitch on the back and do some light towing, use the heavy duty 75W-140 lube in the rear, weather it came like that from the factory or not.

The factory tow package came with a hitch, auxiliary transmission cooler, and some came with a trailer brake module (IIRC). Best way to tell is to get your build sheet from Jeep.

In the words if Mr. Mackey: "M'kay..." How can I tell if I've got the tranny cooler without popping off my grille? I've got a manual...

I believe this is a picture of the stock one, but i could be wrong
