Default LSD additive for rear or both diff's?

I have a 1996 Jeep cherokee 4L HO and a rear Dana 40 wich has a tag on it that suggests only to use Limited Slip Differential additive. Does this also count for the front differential?
Thanks before.

If the rear says to use limited slip fluid ONLY, then I'd follow that direction. The front however....I don't believe the front diff's have limited slips, but correct me if I'm wrong somebody! If mine had that tag like yours, then that's what I'd use.

Don't fill the thing with friction modifier. Add a little bottle of it with the gear oil. And it is only the rear. Stock axle for that year would not be a dana 44. Can you show a pic of the whole cover?

It's a D35. Put the little bottle of friction modifier in the rear diff along with your favourite flavour of gear oil (75w90 for "regular duty" and 85w140 for towing IIRC) I doubt you have a limited slip in the front, no XJ's ever came stock with them; fill it up with the same fluid as the rear, no friction additive.

This the whole picture of my rear diff. By the way im living in Indonesia. It has a right sided steering wheel. I only know LSD in a solid form. Hahaha.. . There is another thing. On the mopar LSD bottle. It writes that the mixing ratio should be 2-5% of oil weight. So assuming the diff takes around 1200 ml. So i will be using around 60 ml right. A bottle has 150 ml.

You have a Dana 30 front and a Dana 35 rear. No Dana 30's came with LSD so just put regular gear oil in it.

I have a LSD rear d35, when i changed my rear diff oil with amsoil severe gear GL-5 i didn't add the slip lock additive. I have had no diff chatter. Still contemplating whether I should add it or not....

If the diff has no chatter, do not use the additive. I never use gear oil (in a clutch type lsd) that already has the additive. If the lsd chatters a lot in a tight turn, only then will I add half a tube/bottle of the additive and see how that goes. A really tight clutch pack may need the whole tube/bottle of additive.

A clutch type limited slip diff is a traction enhanced diff (torque to both wheels). The additive makes the clutches slip more/easier, thus the diff performs more like a worthless open diff, but it will be quiet/no chatter. I would much rather have equal torque to both wheels (and a little chatter in a tight turn) than a quiet limited slip that slips a lot and performs more like open diff.

Generally, the factory would only put LSD in the rear differential.

However, note that adding FM to the full stock of gear oil and putting it where it's not needed won't cause any trouble - gears won't notice the difference.

So do you people use the whole bottle of LSD or just the half? According to the packaging, mix ratio should be 2-5% weight of oil.

Start with none.....if it chatters in a tight turn add 1/2....if it still chatters, add the other half.
