Lowered the seats in my XJ...
I'm 6' 2" and felt like I would be a bit more comfortable if my seat was a bit lower in my '98 XJ....so I pulled the seat, cut 1 5/8" (ish) out of the seats brackets and welded them back up...and I love it!
It was a bit of a PITA to get it all cut, welded and bolted back in...but totally worth it for me. The drop is totally noticeable, and I can actually stick my head out the window without having to duck so much. I had to cut the carpet out on the right side of the seat in order for it to sit down on the tranny hump and be able to slide.
I think the 1 5/8" I cut out is the maximum I (luckily guessed) was able to cut out of them, otherwise the seat would bottom out, probably not slide, and be a pain to bolt in.
Here's a couple pics of the cuts...
Front bracket's section that i cut out:
Rear part of the bracket, you can see the line where I cut off the middle section.
I will have to take more finished product pics as the ones I had have disappeared...until then...I hope it inspires you tall guys! Just be sure to run a good bead when welding 'em back up

Being 5'11" I dont really feel your pain. But I have had friends complain about
the same issue. I put drag racing seats in my VW and it lowered the seat almost 3". I plan on doing the same with the XJ. Nice mod though!!

I think they are, they do fit you tight. And they lean a little but not much. If you like to lean your seat back a lot, then these are definately not the seats for you. They can be a little rough to get out of.

wow
I am 5'11" and I do feel your pain. I got fine in an XJ, if I slouch. But I'd I set straight the way I sit in my TJ then I'm looking straight out of the top of the windshield and just barely not touching the roof. If I hit a bump forget about it. I'm hitting m my head. I have no idea why jeep set this up this way. There is tons of head ton in my TJ and I look through the center of the glass. That is the way it is supposed to be. I am doing this mod. Thank you.

I wonder if you could whack on the transmission tunnel a bit and get it even lower?

This is exactly what I was looking for! Can you post "after " pics of the bracket?
