2000 4.0 XJ AW4
Accelerating from 0-10mph I'm getting a knocking from the rear left area underneath. I can't tell if it's the axle or the wheel. It increases with speed like it's once per rotation of the shaft or wheel then stops when the speed gets up.
Anything obvious I should be checking?
Everything looks perfect.

 

Must have X-ray vision

Jack that side up and check wheel brg. Then pull wheel and drum and inspect.

Also look for anything "loose" that might be rubbing tire.

 

For the benefit of anyone searching for this problem, it was the rear brake.
15 year old drum brakes - the shoes weren't pulling away from the drum cleanly when the brakes came off.
New rear brakes ordered, but in the mean time disassembly, clean, reassembly has got rid of the knocking.

Huge relief at not having to pull the axle apart. Yet.
