Low Oil Pressure, yeah I know.
I have been digging through the forums for the low oil pressure threads. Trying to determine if mine is what I have read. 2000 XJ Sport. 85000 miles on it.
I am thinking its the infamous cracked head. I attached a photo of the bottom of my oil fill cap. Which I believe has the "white slude" on it indicating the antifreeze/oil combination.
Just looking for confirmation. Any help as always is helpful.

Your cap is still in the valve cover that part that BROKE off is the top of the cap. Stick a pair aof plyer in the hole and twist the rest out.

That sludge in the top of the cap indicates that there is humidity in the air and is normal. When the liquid oil, in the case or on the stick is milky then you worry.

yeah, it will put sludge there but, the cap is not the best idicator. This is due to the fact that if there is moisture in the air it will get into the motor, normally. when you run the motor that moisture turns to steam and goes to the highest point, the cap, it picks up a little oil along the way turning milky.. If you have alot of slude in the cap and suspect the head, check elsewhere to confirm.

I just went through a head replacement for a cracked 0331. My best advice is to call www.blackstone-labs.com and get a test kit and send them a sample. They will call you when the test is complete should take less than a week and let you know the results.
Like others said it could just be humidity in the air but if your worried at all and you have the right year and mileage I would spend the $25 and have the oil tested either there is coolant in the oil or not and they will tell you.
