Default low oil pressure after oil change

So i just bought a 2001 jeep cherokee and started to go threw everything. I did an oil change and after i noticed my oil pressure drops to 0 when i come to a stop. When driving its fine. I put new oil filter and used 10-30 castrol high mileage oil. (6qts) What do you think could be the problem. Before the oil change i had no issues with oil pressure.

Did you have oil pressure before. If so it is very possible that you hit your oil pressure sending unit when you did your oil change. Very common problem. Also what oil filter did you put on?

x2 oil pressure sending unit is right next to the oil filter, it's common for them to get bumped while replacing the filter.

If you put a fram oil filter on it take that **** off and put a wix filter in. Most auto part stores rent mechanical oil pressure gauges, best to get an accurate reading.

Ok so i guess im gonna go buy a wix filter and trash the fram one. If i did hit the sending unit is it broke or lose? It does build pressure on the stock gauge when rpms are above 1000.

Could be lose, could be broken. Could be the crappy fram filter giving you issues... I would start by pulling the fram off and putting a wix on, disconnect the oil sending unit and plug it back in. If oil pressure is still low rent a mech gauge and get a proper reading. If the mech gauge shows 10+ psi at idle replace the sending unit.

Not true. I've had bad sending units that either peg all the way up or stay at 0.

Very nice, good to find a cheap fix like that.

Let this be (yet another) lesson to all!

Excellent confirmation once again that Fram filters are pieces of crap and cause issues on our Jeeps, regardless of what Dad and Uncle Bob said about them back in the 60s.
