I'm hoping someone can help me with this. My wife has a 2000 Cherokee with a 1996 4.0 that has a miss in #1 cyl that also has 80 lbs compression. Cyl # 2 is fine. I checked the coil pack is ok spark plug also ok swapped injectors and no difference with the miss. I tried spraying some trans fluid in the cylinder and reran compression test and got 90lbs compression. I left the trans fluid in the cylinder for an hour or two and than drove it. the jeep ran fine for two or three days but than the CEL came back on and the miss returned. I'm thinking it might be valve or piston ring but before i tear it apart I was hoping someone might have some insight.
