Loud Thunk AFTER Braking
I have a stock 01 XJ. Starting a few months ago, if I had to hit my brakes hard (not slamming and locking the wheels, just hard) there would be a thunk when I resumed driving after letting off of the brake. Recently it has become more common and occurs even if I apply a normal amount of pressure when braking. It sounds like it is coming from the front wheels.
There is no noise during the braking process, only afterwards and last for maybe 10 "thunks". I can feel the thunks and will occasionally have pedestrians look over due to how loud the sound is. There is no shimmy or pull to either side while braking either. I've taken the front wheels off and replaced both the pads and rotors and I can't seem to find what is causing the sound.
Has anyone had this happen before and have a suggestion?
