Loud pop in 4LO
This weekend I took my jeep off roading for the first time with its "new" transfer case from ebay. I admit i may have pushed it but nothing crazy. While going up a steep hill in 4LO, i heard a loud pop like something broke, then it went into nuetral. I thought the drive shaft or U joint broke from how loud it was but nothing. I disengaged the 4x4 then put it into 4HI and it seemed to do it just fine, but now it feels like 4LO is not working or something. Any suggestions?? or did i already break this transfer case? thank yall

It's not uncommon at all after a tcase removal and re install of the same unit or a new to you unit for the tcase linkage to need adjusting. It's especially warranted once there is a different unit from before installed. Little variances in how fork(s) line up require a little adjustability. Plenty of threads out there and videos on YouTube that can explain in detail how to do this.
Also not uncommon at all to ditch the factory linkage assy for a simpler design like the one sold by boostwerks or azzy design. You can literally Google jeep 231 tcase linkage and you'll have plenty of options to chose from.
