Default loud KLUNCK when shifting

ok so my 92 cherokee sport 5spd. when i push the cluch in it CLUNKS and then when i release the cluch it CLUNKS , feels like it shifts fine in between the clunks ,,,im assuming its somthing with the trany but any help will be much appreciated ,,,,thanks

possible worn out throwout bearing? does it chatter or howl in neutral with the clutch disengaged

nope no unusuall noises or vibrations just a clunk when i push the clutch in , it shifts fine , then clunk when i let off the clutch,,,,,,

it does it when driving and have found if i ride the clutch realy hard i can almost keep it from hapening bt ima burn up the clutch in about a week if i do it all the time ,,,,,,,,,,,and it is getting worse!!!!

Nope still haven't figured it out yet .... It's almost like there is slack between the drive shaft and the rear diff is the best way I can explain it ....

Iv replaced my rear driveshaft u-joints, replaced diff gears with an aussie locker assembly, checked all the teeth of the ring gear and determined it had minimal slack but didnt get to check the r/p backlash. I wonder if it could be a warn t-case chain causing my shift clunk, but I still have the clunk when pushing the clutch in. I was told theres a clutch pedal adjustment but havnt heard anything further on this.

Yes OP thats likely U joints. The next common issue is a dry slip yoke. 96 and under 4x4 models should have a 'self-lubricating' one that oozes ATF, as far as I remember 2WD ones require grease

Trans mount? Sounds like a worn out mount to me. Your whole drivetrain is probably shifting.

I replaced my trans mount and greased the slip yoke but it didnt help but could likely be your cause. I used anti seize for the slip yoke this last time
