My 95 xj makes a pretty rough clunking noise when its under hard accelration. It needs new shocks badly has the typical rear end sag. Im ordering shocks tomorrow and putting them in this weekend. Can anybody help me fix this? If you ease into the throttle it wont do it, but if you floor it, it clunks and thuds. The jeep is bone stock, my parents have given it to me because i just got my licenses. It has 255k miles on it. Thanks guys

 

I'd look over the u-joints for slop and the rear transmission mount for starters. Could also be the exhaust hitting a crossmember. Just one clunk when you get on the gas? Another when you let off?

 

Its almostlike something is hitting the floor pans. Its a continous clunk until you let off the gas.

 

I have this same issue.. I have replaced the tranny mount, motor mounts, driveshafts are good, brand new LA lift, new OTK steering, still clunking under the floor boards when accelerating hard or turning quickly...
