98 XJ 4.0L 5spd

arrived at work this morning to find i was leaking coolant. it was coming down pretty steadily from the rear of the engine. i popped the hood but could not see where it was coming from. no spray on the underneath of the hood. there was some coolant pooling around the lip of the valve cover.

i only lost about a pint or so of coolant and after it slowed, i noticed coolant dripping from the t-stat housing. so that tells me i might be a crack in the hose (which i couldn't really see) or the gasket failed, or both. i suppose it could be the water pump shooting coolant up.

but why would it be dripping from the rear??? could it have run down from the water pump/t-stat all the way to the rear???
