89/4.0/auto. Before my Jeep gets up to temp my oil pressure is around 50. As soon as it reaches temp I seem to loose oil pressure (about 30) and the motor starts to tick. Not a really bad tick but it doesn't have the tick till engine reaches temp. I run 10-30 high mileage. changed every 3,000. Any suggestions?? I don't know if its related but it takes about 20 minutes of driving to get up to like 180 and it wont reach 210?? New radiator, water pump, and thermostat?? Thanks.
The oil will thin out a bit as it gets warmer. This might be the reason you loose a little oil pressure. IMO 30psi is good oil pressure. Dont know why it starts to tick (I'm assuming the tick is a lifter) I am having some issues with lifters ticking also. But mine is intermintent. I am not going to worry about it too much.
The PO of my Jeep was using Amsoil 15w40. I am going to change to Amsoil 10w40 in the next week or so. Iwill see if this helps.

These motors are noisy. Your fine. the rule of thumb is you need 10 LBS minumum per every 1000 RPM.
meaning 1000 rpm you need 10 lbs
or 5000 rpm you need 50 lbs.
