Default Loose steering wheel?

My buddy has a 94 XJ and the steering wheel has a lot of play in it.. He was use to it since he came from a dodge 3500 truck, but I noticed it was pretty bad.

Any common issues for this on a older XJ, could it just need a steering box?
Thanks!

No I have the POS non-tilt Chrysler steering column. I've broken at least 2 of those plastic dash trim things because of it LOL

Yeah his is a tilt column.
I did a quick search on here and didn't find much, other then someone saying it could be a bad U-joint in the steering shaft or a worn steering box..

there arte small bolts that hold the tilt part together that always loosen up its very common unless you have worked on steering b4 it is not an area for a novice there is some info on you tube give me a moment it gives you the basics just remember this is for a gm coloum dont know what year you have so it may not appl ,also this is a common problem you could have bad bearings also

are you referring to play as in steering wheel wiggles, or steering play

put the front up on jack stands and just start wiggling stuff. or have it parked on the ground with it off, and have a buddy wiggle the wheel while you can check all the linkages and whatnot.

Thanks for the link, I will check it out, and steering wheel play..
You can give it a good 1/8 of a turn either direction before it starts doing anything.
