Default Loose metal sound

Hey guys I got a 91 Cherokee laredo I've been working on for a while and just recently it started making a noise that sounds like something is loose and rattling around and it sounds like its coming from my oil pan. I had a mechanic drill a new oil drain plug and didnt remove the pan. Is it metal shards or what?

well if it truley is coming from your oil pan you could have a bad bearing causeing the crank to flop. Make 100% sure this is the cause of the noise before you go ripping into it.

Check the torque converter bolts and look at the flexplate, the bolts tend to loosen and flexplates crack around the crank bolt holes.

I had my engine rebuilt 20000 miles ago. Wouldnt they replace that in the process?

Oh ya! well if they are any good. That was more of a random answer. Like I said just try and recreate it in your drive way so you can pin point the absolute area.

Well it sounds like my heat shield in my exhaust. Little more investigation is needed tho. And while investigating I found a missing bushing a kinked line tranny to radiator and my suspension is bad...worse than I had thought
