I am looking to lift my XJ 2 inches, trim the fenders and put 31's on. how much will this affect my gas mileage? this is my dd so I am wanting to keep it at a reasonable place for economic reasons. thanks.

you will be fine! im at 6 inches +/- with 32's i get almost 18 mpg. go 2 inches with 30's or 3 inches with 31's you will be fine. you might loose 2 mpg's

im at bone stock with 17-18 mpg average, closer to 18, (thats a lloott of city tho) and i got a 3.5" lift on the way, and looking for 31s, and my jeep is my DD too, im only expecting to lose 2 ish mpg. im also looking into opening up my throttle body and exhaust and cat back to try to gain a little mpg back.

will I rub too much with 2 inch lift and 31's even with trimming?

you will rub at full lock but if you trim enough you could do it. just search around and look at other peoples builds to get more of an idea. if you want decent gas mileage stay with the 30's and 2inches if you dont mind losing a little go with 31's and 2inches with trimming.
