It's BS because I love the JKU and the way it looks.

Are all the problems engine-related? If so what about an engine swap?

They are mainly nuisances. I have a transmission noise that they have located and ordered the part for.

Ahh. I was thinking if you actually liked the Jeep then a Cummins 4BT swap would be in order lol.

If it's not just engine problems I have to ask... what do you plan on doing to get rid of the vehicle? Or is it not so bad that you'd be able to sell it? Also are there lemon laws down there? (in my jurisdiction you're basically screwed)

The main issue with my JKU is the water pump. It has various other issues like a squeal in the transmission that fortunately they feel they have located. Also a squeak in the brake pedal. I could take this JKU back to stock and get around $5K for everything and then take to Carmax and sell probably. XJ is the only other 4X4 that I want other than possibly a Raptor, but the size is way too big for my tastes. And the price is even worse. Ideally the JKU has all its problems fixed and it gets paid off by summer. Otherwise, I float the JKU until I sell everything off it and find a nice XJ to build. One more issue with the JKU that requires an overnight stay will probably be it for me.

I did find a 2000 XJ with only 115K that looks very clean.

Well here I am again. I eventually sold that JKU and ended up with a loaded '15 Rubicon. Stupid decision!! On 37's now and have $55K invested. Did I say how stupid that decision was?? I'm going to take a bath on the Rubicon, but I would rather wheel a $10K vehicle than a $55K. I love the Rubicon, but I rarely take off road and when I do I don't want to break stuff so it's pretty boring. Anyways I'm back in the market for an XJ and I'm trying to sell my Rubicon which is proving difficult at the moment. I have found 3 pretty good '00-01 XJ's that are well taken cared of but they are asking too much right now. I know those aren't the desired years. I'm thinking a small 2-3" lift with 31's or 32's and some Bushwacker flat fenders. I've never rode in a lifted XJ so not sure what to expect. I'm guessing similar to a JKU. Thoughts??

Pics of Rubicon.

Well that was a piece of **** with death wobble and all. Think a completely stock vehicle is s better starting point. That way I know what been done to it.

Haha! Did it death wobble or something while you were test driving it?! That would be classic!
