it depends, you'll have to try it first. if you drop the driveshaft, get an sye.
i'm at 8 inches and longarms and no sye or tcase drop. regular driveshafts, but have a yj slip yoke and d44 rear.

well i still have my existing 4.5 lift coils in the front , wich ill be using with my longarms for now .but once im finished putting my long arms in do u think id lose a ds when im flexed out ? i have a 1.5 inch case drop. also whats a good sye kit thats reasonably priced if in existance ??

at 4.5 inches, i doubt it. the only way you might is if you were to launch it where both rear wheels were to leave the ground and the axle droop far enough to pull the slip yoke out of the t-case. i've done it and didn't loose my driveshaft. but i did pull my stainless steel brake line off.
when you flex out, the driveshaft still stays relatively where it does when sitting, just basically rotates while each end of the axle flexes.
you can get a decent, but relatively cheap sye from rugged ridge. it is a copy of the advanced adapters but half the price. the components are pretty good too. and it's a real sye, no hack and tap. but only for a 231, so if you have a 242, then you'll have to hack it.

hmm its funny cuz i got about 7 inches in the rear and never had a problem with my stock ds. doesnt even have a bad vibe . but im upgrading the front with long arms would u run into the same kinda problem with ur front ds getting bound up due to extreme axle drop on the driver side ?

no need to change the front shaft. its already a double cardan shaft

yes! i wheel/krawl the sh$t out of it . its my daily driver but weekend warrior as well.
also what do u guys think of the rubicon express long arm kit ???
