Which locker

Hey everyone I am to the point on my xj where I want to put a locker in the dana 35 in the back and just want a little feedback as to which one would be a good one?
I was told by one of those know it all salesman at 4wheel parts that aussie lockers are weak, put am steering toward the aussie locker for price and I hear it is a real good locker.
It is going in my 87 xj, and I believe it is all original so that would make it a non c-clip axle rear end, put am going to be checking that in the near future when it warms up.

I love my Lock Right. It and the Aussie are pretty much the same other than the springs thatre in em.
I found my locker cheaper than I could find an Aussie so I go it. Call Wayne at alljeep.com. He sold me my front lock right for like $210 shipping and all.
What size tires are you runnin? I'm not a big fan of locking an axle like the 35. Just doesn't seem like a good investment when u can buy a lot better axle for the price of a locker.

I am running 30 x 9.5 x 15 bfg at, and it has stock 4.10 gears. with a manual 5 speed.
But I have to go just got my check from the insurance company for the money for the car my daughter wrecked, and it looks like christmas time for dad and his jeep, that is if I get away with it and dont have to spend it on Christmas, but I know some how it is going to go to christmas if my wife has her way.

i would think a d35 would break something other than your aussie first so strength shouldn't be an issue. i have loc-rites front and rear, and for the money of these 'lunch box' lockers turned my xj on 31's into a go anywhere machine. i've had the one in my hpd30 for 4yrs before i finally grenaded my RF ujoint and axle. thats even with the 'if in doubt, more skinny pedal' driving style.

Live in Fresno, ca, it is just bellow the sierra's and lots of snow and mountain trails.
I plan on going up in the mountains on OHV trails they call them here in Cali, and am not going to tear it up rock crawling, but would like to take it on the rubicon one of these years, seeing as it is only down the hiway from us.
Mostly trail ridding for hunting and fishing and just getting up in the hills ridding around and on ocasion going up to tahoe over the summit.

they just told you that because they dont sell aussie they just sell lockrite.
aussie is made out of a stronger material than lockrite and is stronger. i know many people who run them in 44s 8.25s 35s and 30s with no issues at all. i personally run one in my 8.25 with 35" tires and love it. no problems at all. i would recomend them to anyone and so would everyone else that owns one

Ya I know that is why the said that about the aussie because they do not sell them because I asked if they sold them.
I will more than likely go with the aussie sounds like the good one to use, just dont know if I want to stay with the 35, saw a chrysler at the wrecker the other day and they will be asking 80.00 on sale over the christmas weekend, half of, I might go pull it and work with that one, just did not want to have do ring and pinnion to match the ratio with the front diff.

You said that your Jeep is an 87? and all original right?
There is a good chance your axle is a Dana 44, are you 100% sure its a D35?
Post up a pick if I'm bringing any doubt to mind.
If its a 44 then not a worry should cross your mind with locker or tire size.

It is a d35, smaller tubes, than d44 and different cover plate.
I ordered a rc 3" lift kit for a 35 and the new u bolts fit snugly but did fit, and I think the d44 are a bit larger at the tubes and d35 ubolts will not fit on a d44.

Ya I'm in the same boat with my '89, but from the amont of difficult trails u run it sounds like u might not really need to go through all that just to get to the hunting & fishing spots!?!?

I have aussies front and back with a d30 and d35, and i have 33's and im pretty heavy on the skinny pedal and ive never had a problem. go aussie!
