Lock Right Locker, Richmond makes noise while driving
I have had a Lock Right locker in my dana 44 rear for almost a year now. It was making the normal ratcheting sound while turning corners until recently it started making a grinding sound just going straight. It still locks right up. Is there anyway to tell if it's damaged? I'm worried if it comes apart it will damage my yukon gears and axle shafts.
I ran it pretty hard in the rocks with 33 super swampers all year and it was fine. Just ran it once in the snow with 35" swampers then it started the noise.

see anything visible grinding away? near the hub area? I picked up some sand when the sanded our streets, got behind the dust covers, sounded like I lost a brake pad. Noisy when braking/driving straight or turning. I pulled the tire off and seen some small lines on the rotor starting, just took everything apart and cleaned it up. First off, have someone drive for you, walk beside the Jeep, take a look, have a listen. Which side? Maybe pull that wheel off, check for any marks, do a real good inspection with a strong light, ya gotta start there...hopefully something real easy, like a rock!

I wish it was a rock! Its on the rear. I have teraflex disc brakes back there and they are pretty clean. Had the axle apart with just the ring and pinion left in there. No metal flakes? I lifted the back with a forklift and let it spin to eliminate any noise from the front axle. The noise is coming from the pumpkin. Any Ideas?

uh-oh,
check the yoke, just like taylorworld says.
side to side, give it a wiggle.
don't drive it if possible.....your most likely going to open her up...for a inspect.
lastl....u-joint??? maybe? probably not though.
