Default lock / key question / stuck hatch lock

The ignition key is the same key for the rear hatch on a 95 right?

Seems like a dumb question but the key goes all the way in and wiggle but the lock wont turn, the ignition key does the glove box and ignition and i believe it did the old doors but i dont recall.

So if it does, what could be causing the lock cyl on the rear hatch not to work. I neglected to try this before I put the rear interior panel back in, which half the tabs were already broken on

Ideas? I hit it with some penetrating oil last night.

Rear hatch should be the same key as the doors. If that doesn't work, then someone changed something.

Door are the same as ignition, I only have one key for each of my 95, 96 and 01 (plus the spares). The glove box can be opened by any jeep key, or something with similar profile.

Yes!
The same key should unlock everything unless the po change the locks for some reason.

awesome, no the PO didnt change anything, it was the most neglected, abused, parts vehicle when I bought it many years ago. I never intended on restoring it, but you know how that goes...

You may want to flood the locks with PB blaster and try to work the locks free. Just don't over work the key to hard and break the key. I have seen my brother have the same problem and her ended up breaking the key in the lock.

I was worried about that, it finally stopped pouring a few minutes ago, so I went outside to try it, and it worked like new. LOL It wouldnt move with a ton of force yesterday, but after some oil before bed and all day today it works like it was never stuck, it didnt crunch or anything.

I got my new locks for the doors today too, so all is good now.
