It is all a matter of how much uptravel you want. Low lifts equal lots of bumpstopping. Buy quality parts, and focus on down travel, but make sure to use limit starps too

It will depend on whether you run 33x10.50’s or 33x12.50’s and then again on what backspacing your wheels will have.
I’m running 33x10.50’s on stock steel wheels with cut fenders and 3” of bump stop up front and factory bump stops in the rear.
I like the 10.50's for a host of reasons and they happen to tuck up into the wheel wells nice allowing plenty of up travel (aka, more flex).

it depends on if your going for looks or function. realisticly I'd say the biggest tire you can run on a XJ or ZJ without rubbing like crazy or cutting the body is a 31x10.15 it depends on what your into. in my opinion a 4" lift with disco's and 31's will go almost any where.
