Alright XJ one last question. Have you ever used the Matrix Brand Paint? Found a shop over here by me that sells Matrix, said it was a very good paint is on par with the PPG(he would use the PPG Code). It goes for $87.00/quart and its a 1 to 1 ratio so I would get 2 quarts out of it.

 

I haven't heard of it but that doesn't mean it isn't good paint. Im in California and most of my experience is with waterborne paint because solvent based is illegal or very restricted here. Im sure that is why i havent heard of some of these companies because they may only carry solvent. But if your hearing good things then thats a good sign. If you cant get a cheap decent base coat(color) just make sure you have a good clear coat. Thats where you get your UV protection and also your scratch and chip resistance which helps you keep that shine so your not buffing it once a month. There are some good cheap clears out there too so do a little research before you break your bank.

 

I was able to buy hardened acrylic enamel, in Sonoma Co, (a smog area), but I had ID to show my address in CA is not in a smog control district. The Black on my 76 Honda 750 is holding up supper! (Goes without saying, the Honda purrrrs fine)
