Default limited slip suggestions?

I NEED a limited slip unit for my '96 Cherokee 8.25 rear. I'd like one that engages fairly quick. Any suggestions or opinions?

I can't recommend a limited a limited slip diff but I think the PowerTrax locking diff is outstanding. I believe with most limited slips, you've got to do the whole diff removal and set-up (back lash, side play, shims, etc., etc.) With the Powertrax, it basically just replaces the spider gears in an open diff......virtually no set-up/adjustment. Also, like the name implies, a LSD will slip.

Okay. So what are the on-road handling characteristics of it in a Cherokee? My wife runs it a good bit in the winter. I ran a Lock-Right in a CJ-5 for a while. Strange at times! Alot of the roads around here are unimproved and in snow, ice, mud, etc.,plus the hills, things get rough at times. I've never had a 4x4 or 2x4 without a limited slip rear and can tell the difference for sure.

if you are looking for a smooth engaging, maintenance free LSD then i would say the gear actuated Detroit Tru-trac is your best bet. i have one up front and when i have one wheel off the ground i still get traction. it also does wonders in the snow. but like 383 said...its not an easy job! my uncle works at the jeep dealer so i got both front and rear lockers installed for free (not counting parts of couse...)
