No it's on the top of my jeep tank it had a vac line going to it that was crushed when I replaced my tank today

I take it it had a steel line? Probably goes to your vapor canister, which I believe is in the engine bay for the older XJs.

It's probably the roll-over valve. Later model XJ's with plastic tanks had the roll-over valve molded into the tank.

I have two one toward the front one toward the rear there plastic and the line is rubber
