Lifter chatter after head rebuild
91 XJ blew the head gasket and had the head fully rebuilt re decked for peace of mind. Before I removed the head I checked the rockers for any collapsed lifters but all felt firm. I had a very quiet lifter tick only at start up but went away after a minute or so. I didnt replace them because i didnt want new lifters on an old cam. Now that I put everything back together and torqued the rockers at 20 pounds the lifter tick is significantly louder and it does not settle down. I'm running lucas and 10 40 oil right now as I break the head in. I was told to loosen the rocker bolts until I fid the sweet spot and the rockers should quiet down some. Anybody have any experience with this.

don't loosen the rockers.
See if you can isolate which one.
