Default Lifted Jeep this weekend....Bad idea:(

Well I installed a 3" coil spacer lift kit this weekend and it went good, that is until I drove it!

It rides stiff as all hell (still stock springs and shocks)
I can see that the drive shaft is now at a very different angle than stock and also I noticed a difference in power???

......Is that normal, will a 3" spacer lift cause a loss in power?

Also is it bad to run the drive shaft at this angle?

with a 3" lift, the angle should be fine. As for the loss of power, no. if you put bigger tires on it then yes, but very little. and it will ride a bit stiffer

Is a ride this stiff going to burn out my springs? I will get new extended shocks soon, but will it be ok to run it like this for a bit?

no, your springs should be fine. the extended shocks should help alot also. what shocks do you plan to purchase?

Those are stiff riding shocks. Find something else if you want a nice ride.

the ride is never going to be good with a 3" spacer and block.

grand cherokee shocks are a little longer, they work well.

it's riding stiffer because there is more pressure from bumps being transmitted into the control arms and thus into the body because the control arms are at a greater angle.

I bet the shocks are fully extended too, that in it's self will preload the springs to where you will have no actual spring action unless you hit a large bump. New longer shocks will fix the problem.

I dont see why a 3" spacer on a stock front coil should give you such a hard ride unless the shocks are fully extended. The new angle on the lower arms might make it a little firmer but the ride should be close to stock with original springs.

An extreme LCA angle will cause for a rougher ride. I dont know enough about shocks to answer to that question but would assume an over extended shock more than likely will not perform well.

really? 3 inch coil spacer! the stock shacks are good for about 1 inch of lift. take the shocks off and you will prolly get a smoother ride!
