Default Lift vs. gear and lock???

So im waiting on a check that should be here in acouple weeks... im gonna buy a 88 XJ and get it running and sell it... hoping to make about $1000 to $1500 profet on the deal... So right now im sittin stock on 31 AT's and my D44 rear is geared different then my front so i dont have 4x4 right now... ive already got rear 6.5in leafs... so im debating on with the extra money whether to lift it or to re-gear for the future 35's and lock the front and back all at once... i live in GA so trail rides consist more of mud and fallen trees then rocks... maybe riding and climbing creek beds... so what would u guys do?

i should have added a poll... lol... others may argue that 4 tires pulling may pull you over the obstacle... not really rocks here to worry bout bottoming out on... and whats lift if you cant use 4x4? i havent decided yet but i see pros/cons to both and i just want to see what everyone elses opinions are... ill probly see which one gets more opinions and do that... so your opinions matter!

imo, i think you should regear and lock so that you will at least have 4x4. the lift you can get for about $600 at the most for a 3" with rear springs.

ive already got 6.5 rustys rear springs... so all i need is the front (yeah i know thats the more costly part)... looking at a acouple options now for $600 to $800 for that... everything i will be installing myself... i think im leaning more towards the gears and lockers really... but i really want abunch of opinions first incase im missing anything... im not doing crazy lockers... ive been looking at the new Spartan lockers... think Yukon makes them... kind of like a lockrite setup... for gears im thinking 4.88's for when i eventually run 35's... got 5 speed

Gear and lock. You can go allot of places with the right gears and a locker.

If your vehicle is more on off-roading then I'll go with a lift...

I vote for gears and lockers, get that 4x4 back in working condition. I'd rather have a smaller 4x4 than a big 2x4 with poor gearing.
