Well is this a dual purpose Jeep or just a trail only rig? You also need to remind us what kind of stuff you run in, mud, rocks or woods trails.

What rear axle and front axles are you running? If you have a D35 rear end then 33" at most IMHO..If you have a newer 97+ 8.25 maybe up to 35" if you have some beefed up axle shafts.. Anyways just my thoughts but honestly if you want to go beyond 33" tires I'd suggest either a D44, Ford 8.8 or something beefier then what the XJ's came with..

You have to ask yourself what your willing to live with. Even with 33s you'll need regearing, and 35s are even worse!! Keep this in mind when purchasing your lift, the costs add up quick, in hindsight, I have more money tied up in getting my XJ running right with the lift than I do in the lift itself!! Your investment in the lift is really the least of your worries. All of the other stuff can be where the money goes real fast!! I got the good guy deal, and after parts and labor I spent over $1200.00 just for gearing and a rear auto locker!! HTH!!

Stock axles, 6.5" lift, and fenders trimmed... I'd say 35's. But you wont be able to keep it that way for long. Your axles wont be able to take it off road, and you'll need to regear. If you've swapped axles then are you still running stock width or full width. You'll be able to run larger ones with full width axles. Also how much fender did you cut out? just a little trim or a hack job? If it's pretty much stock and your just running it around town and don't beat it hard then you can run 35's. If you wheel it then I'd only run 33's.

Personal experience with my jeep build is a 7" lift, fenders hacked way out (about 2.5 - 3"), D44 front, 9" rear (about 1" longer than stock on both ends) I could run 36's on this setup with the clearance of a jeep on a 4.5" lift with 31's. Once you go that big of a lift it really depends on how you've set the rest of your jeep up other than just your suspension.
