taythegibs is right... My buddy added a small lift to his a while back and didn't want to ditch his new shocks just that soon after replacing them so he left them on there... We ran a few trails with some moderate flexing and had no trouble. Just want to check your suspension travel after you get done (front axle usually stops before you get to the end of the shock tube) usually wouldn't be very much difference without going beyond three inches of lift.

Anytime you lift you create a shortness in the travel of the shock.
With a 2" boost. you should be okay if you do nothing more than light off-roading.
BUT if you intend to do more than light off-roading, I would seriously look into longer shocks AND put some thought into your brakelines. Like the shocks, brakelines can get a "shortness" to them after lifting.
**Shameless promo warning**
I do offer brakeline extenders that are perfect for 2" boosts-3.5" lifts.
Simply bolts between the brakeline and axle. No need to open up the brake system. I have 2 different ones available: early model- 84-89 XJ and later model- 90-01 XJ
Easy to see which you would need by looking at the mounting bolt.
IF it has a breather tube going directly to bolt, you need the newer.
IF the breather is separate (2" to passenger's side) from the mounting bolt, you need the older style.
