lift for a newbie??

Default lift for a newbie??

ok im mech literate but i need some help.
i wanna put a 3" lift on my 00 xj and i am using the 3" steam pipe spacers and the main of a 91 dakota leaf. i know ill need to move the brake lines or get longer ones.
but do i have to get new shocks as well?
and what other stuff would i need?

Shocks yes, break lines prolly not nessesary. I didnt need to extend them with 3" Just my .02

You have a low pinion diff in the front so you'll have to put a TC drop in it to cure vibes.

and how do u do that? like i said im fairly new to this haha. coming from a background of racing 4 bangers to modding jeeps haha
what would i need to do a tc drop?

I did 3" without t-case drop and have some vibration but only with a heavy foot, dont think it is necisary though it would be the proper thing to do. Shocks yes. though stockers will work but you wont get as much flex as you could.

you can find a kit at rustys.com its very easy to do.

no money for rustys haha
this is a budget lift haha
alright so stock shocks would work for just on road use?? until i can get the money for new ones?

lol i hear you about no money. they should work. though they wont last. Did my lift a year ago and haven't replaced the rears yet due to some major rust on the mounts. waiting to install my 5.5" then I will tackle that. so far they are fine, but they have started to leak.

just uncoil the brake lines and detach from fire wall and they should hang with plenty of room. i did with over 10 in of lift- no prob even at full flex and i was runnin 38's

Just go to home depot and get some 1in spacers or a butt load of washers and stack them, Get some longer bolts while youre there.

so 1'' spacers and longer bolts for a tc drop?
and runnin stock shocks on 3" lift should last til i can get some cash to buy new shocks?
