Default lift kit question

Well first of all i'm hunter and i'm new here. I finely had the time to sign up but anyways i am planning on putting a lift kit on my stock 96 jeep Cherokee 2wd. the purpose is because i'm 17 and want it to look good with some 31's and maybe take it into some mud holes every now and then

so i have found a rough country 3" suspension lift for around $255 but my questions are, what else do i need to get with this lift kit. my jeep is very old and i just don't no what all i need to get so thats why i need to ask some pro's here. the link to that lift is here>>> http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_3.html

i wanna keep the cost under 400 for my kit. if i have to go a little higher than i may can manage. but help me out and please ask questions if you need to.

the kit you mentioned is an Add a leaf kit. you mentioned that your jeep was old, and that probably means that the leaf springs are worn and sagging. an AAL wont hold well with the saggy leafs so you might want to consider getting new leaf springs with your kit.

there should be an option on the bottom of the screen on that link you put up with the option to upgrade to full leaf springs.

I have the same year of jeep and before i did my lift it wasnt sagging at all. But when i did my lift, I replaced 2 of the leafs from leafs that i had just laying around but it was just the bottom leaf that was broken. So i guess i kinda did bastered pack. But with the aal. Over all Mine sits fine now with no sagging or anything. And i also bought the same lift as you are talkin about.

sweet. well anyways i went on to choose the add-a-leafs and the price is the same?? so?? lol i don't think my leafs are worn out but i would like to go ahead and add new ones if its not gonna hurt my wallet to much. Another question is about my Steering Stabilizer or anything else that i might need to replace because of the lifting. i read that its not gonna hurt anything under 3" lifts. so let me know about that also

The only problem that i can think of is, and im kinda new to the jeep thing too, but is watch out for death wobble. It sucks. I have replaced my tie rods, u-joints, and steering stablizer so far and mine still kinda shakes. So my next items are goin to be a trac bar and a drop pitman arm. Thats what they have told me that would fix it. But you could be lucky and not even get it. I didnt have it til about a year after i did my lift. Now im trying to get rid of it. But you should be good. But be careful when taking your rear shocks off. Those bolts love to break off, but there is alot of threads on here about those dumb bolts. Mine broke and i just drilled holes through my floor and bought long bolts and ran them through my floor. But there is other options. Ask around on here, they are pretty helpful.
