You can always cut a broomstick handle and prop it... I did it for 2 years in college.

Default Hood lift

The best thing about replacing hatch struts is that old ones can be used to lift and hold the hood. No more hot hands.

How do you fry the eggs and bacon & hash browns with all that insulation on the hood?

Just replaced mine about 20 minutes ago! Its lovely to have the liftgate lift itself once you help it past about 20% open. No more surprise attacks!

I was going to say you can have my old ones but someone just said that they are strong enough to keep the hood open. So I may venture into that arena now. Sorry!

Invest in some supports, the feels are totally worth it!

Order these:

Amazon.com: Qty (2) Strong Arm 4782 liftgate Tailgate Hatch Lift Supports Struts Shocks: Automotive Amazon.com: Qty (2) Strong Arm 4782 liftgate Tailgate Hatch Lift Supports Struts Shocks: Automotive

They are custom made to order and then shipped from China, so admittedly they take a long time to arrive, but they are just plain great. Very high quality and an exact fit. Work wonderfully. I'm exceptionally pleased with them.

S/F,

-Matt

What's the difference between the 97+ and the older models lift supports?
