lift, fan, and how to - Questions from an aspiring Jeeper
So I have a 98 XJ just for the general knowledge of the readers. And I have a few questions.
1.) Im trying to ultimately get a lift, not major...perhaps 1.5 or 2 inches. does anyone have any recommendations as far as manufacturer, height, instillation?
2.) That plastic cover that goes around the cooling fan, mine broke/cracked somehow along the bottom, its rattling like crazy, rubbing up against the blades, and sounds horrible...any suggestions/can i just replace that plastic housing?
3.) im in need of a repair/how to manual. anyone have an extra/one they want to sell to me?
thats about all i got, take it away Cherokee guru's.

rough country has some good lifts and at a good price for what you are trying to do,the fan shroud is something that seems to break easy on xjs,i would remove it before it gets worse and gets in the fan and radiator, then I would search the local jys for another, with winter here you do not need it,I have even ran without them in summer,be careful though because the fan will be exsposed.
I do not have a manual to sell but chiltons are good.

If you go to your local parts house you can find your manual there. The fan shroud is a good thing to have during the summer. The bottom of mine is broke so I just zip tied it in place and its fine. A friend of mine never has had one and his runs fine all year long. I agree with Abovetimberline about rough country lifts. They are great price for what you get.

i would go 2 inch pucks (energy suspension) with 2inch either add-a-leafs (superlift) or shackles(u can get those anywhere just don't use the advanced auto parts one they break) with 1-3 inch lift shocks (rancho aint to bad) that will give you the ability to run 30/9.50/15's with no rubbing when full flexed and less exspensive than your beefer 31's the fan shroud i would just take it off if your have the electric also cause if you start to heat up that electric cuts on and you have no worrys and the repair manual local parts store for that one like $15 at the most
