I am new to this. i just got a 92 cherokee and i have heard that you can go up a certain about till you have to do SYE. Could i do a 4.5 and not have to worry about that problem?

The SYE goes on the rear output of the transfer case so that the slip yoke that is used from the factory is eliminated and replaced with a flange. The slip yoke is really not eliminated but rather becomes the middle section of the drive shaft. The new drive shaft has a double cardin joint on the tranny end and a regular u-joint on the pinion end.

Depends. My brothers run 5" lifts and only one is a 94 the other is an 87, the 87 manual tranny doesn't need one, never had any issues out of it and they have put gumby to shame with flexing. The 94 was fine until it went to pull out my 92 and it was at a bad angle and the shaft popped out after a few good tugs... Course he's gunna do a T-case drop kit so that the angle is better to keep the drive shaft in. Thats if we don't blow these up and get other ones first of course...
