Hmmm, not sure of the size, but I picked up a set of 4 from pepboys. Comes with a specialty allen wrench to deffer theft. 4 bucks and it comes with anchors too. No one is stealing my plate ever again lol

The plastic clips feel out of mine and some how vaporized. So I just ran a bolt/nut through the hatch.

You can just throw whatever works in there. If you cant get screw to hold, I guess you could pull the rear hatch panel which would give you access backside of license plate holes. At this point you'd run bolts thru and put nuts on from inside..

You can pick up the screws and plastic pieces at most auto parts.
I've been using 1/4"x20 screws.

I did the same thing, but ran with it stuck on with double sided tape before that. Haha

I would just go to any auto parts store and get a set of license plate bolts they are universal I wouldn't run a screw through the lift gate.

Default 04 Grand Cherokee License Plate Screws

A very old post, but maybe this will help the next guy. If you're looking for what size screws you need to attach your license plate, I just found the exact replacements that were holding the plates on my 04 GC.

Bag of 4 at Home Depot cost a buck and change.
