Leno's Law In California, SB712, requires your input
Just an update on Lenos Law, California Senate Bill 712 (SB 712) that will smog test exempt many of our XJs and other classic cars. (cars 35 years old and greater, a rolling exemption)
This law is slated for a Senate Appropriation Committee vote, I urge all Californian XJ owners to call or write the committee to express their opinion.
Most of our XJs are maintained well, and usually pass smog test. It is getting more and more difficult and expensive to find a smog test place that will test pre-OBD cars, as the shops that do this require specialized dyno equipment that is expensive to maintain, some of these test machines no longer have any support or supply of spare parts by the makers. Even the later XJs with OBD are sometime hard to find a test place.
You can make a difference, express your opinion to the Senate, follow this law on the web as it makes it way through the state house.
Right now the bill is in the Appropriations Committee, so that is who to contact now. (see Appropriation Committee contact list attached)....
Note I have kept this post non political as I have not endorsed any specific position on this law, This is simply info on what is happening in regards to a law that will effect our XJs

Note that Senator Wahab's phone number is not correct as listed on the attached PDF, It is not 916 651 4010 I have informed her office of this error. Her local office number is 510 749-3900 The other senator numbers are correct.
